Who is the wealthiest billionaire in your country?
Just ask HowMuch.net. The cost-estimating data visualization website aggregated a list of the richest person in each country and filtered it by only billionaires. Each map shows the richest people, their estimated net worth and industry.
Among those on the map are Germany’s Karl Albrecht Jr., who amassed $29.2 billion after founding supermarket chain Aldi, Italy’s Maria Franca Fissolo, widow of Nutella creator Michele Ferrero, and Saudi Arabia’s Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, who is currently being detained at the Ritz-Carlton as part of a corruption probe.
Missing from this list: many billionaires on Bloomberg’s ranking of the world’s richest people, including Microsoft’s MSFT, -0.73% Bill Gates, Warren Buffett BRK.A, +0.00% and Facebook’s FB, -0.54% Mark Zuckerberg.
Amazon AMZN, +1.46% CEO Jeff Bezos snagged the spot for richest billionaire in the U.S. with an estimated $96.6 billion net worth. Bezos’s net worth has recently skyrocketed following Amazon’s acquisition of Whole Foods and the announcement of a competition for the location of a second headquarters.
