Ivanka Trump expressed her condolences for the victims and families affected by the mass shooting in Florida on Wednesday, saying she was “praying” for the high school students that were killed and wounded.

“Praying for the innocent lives lost, their families and the Parkland, Florida community in the wake of today’s unspeakable tragedy,” the first daughter tweeted.

Authorities reported that 17 people were killed in the shooting in Marjory Stoneman Douglas High on Wednesday after a sole gunman, suspected to be a former student, opened fire.

Trump’s tweet comes after her father, President Trump, tweeted that he was in contact with Florida authorities after the shooting, including Gov. Rick Scott (R).

“My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting. No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school,” the president said.

The White House canceled its daily press briefing in the wake of the shooting, as authorities evacuated the school and secured the area.

Police have the suspect, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, in custody. Between 20 and 50 others are believed to have been injured in the attack.
