The White House is planning to withdraw its nominee for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) after seven months, CNN reported Wednesday evening.

CNN reported that a personal issue that came up within the past week prompted the White House’s decision and that Byard himself asked for the nomination to be withdrawn.

News reports circulated during the day Wednesday suggesting Byard’s nomination would be withdrawn.

The Hill reached out to The White House for comment.

Trump nominated Byard in May after former FEMA head Brock Long stepped down amid an internal ethics investigation.
